The Beginning
Eighteen Years of Doing It Right
G Bar & Kitchen opened its doors at 256 Humphrey Street in Swampscott, Massachusetts in 2008. Chef/Owner Gregg Brackman had a clear vision: a contemporary American restaurant built on restraint, quality ingredients, and honest cooking.
Eighteen years later, that vision hasn't changed — only deepened. The Spring 2026 menu is the 18th anniversary menu, and every dish on it reflects the same philosophy that opened the restaurant: let the ingredients speak, change the menu with the seasons, and never compromise on sourcing.
Seasonality as a Commitment
G Bar & Kitchen changes its menu eight times a year. Not to keep things fresh for the sake of it, but because the best ingredients are different in March than they are in October. Chef Brackman has built relationships with suppliers like Bianco and Sons in Revere and Northcoast Seafoods in South Boston that ensure every plate starts with something exceptional.
Recognition
Over nearly two decades, G Bar & Kitchen has been recognized by Boston's most respected food voices — the Boston Globe, Boston Magazine, Phantom Gourmet, and Wicked Bites among them. Chef Brackman has appeared on Food Network's Chopped and competed in the Culinary Fight Club. The restaurant was a fixture on Boston Magazine's Best Restaurants lists and continues to draw diners from across the North Shore and Greater Boston.
Little G — A New Chapter
In 2023, Chef Brackman opened Little G Bar & Eatery at 250 Humphrey Street — right next door. Little G offers a more casual experience while staying true to the same commitment to quality and local sourcing. Two restaurants. One philosophy.
